The most famous attractions is the Hill of the Acropolis, with its magnificent monuments, such as the Parthenon, the Temple of Athena Nike, the Erechtheion, the Propylaea, the ancient Agora, the theatre of Dionysus and the Odeon of Herodes Atticus. Near the Acropolis is the rock of Arianism and the Pnyx.

Around Syntagma Square, the most central point of Athens, you can visit the Olympion, the Zappeion Hall, the Greek Parliament and the tomb of the unknown soldier, which is guarded by the Evzones. If you're lucky you will watch the changing of the guard.

Behind the Zappeion Hall stands the Panathinaikon Stadium (Kallimarmaro Stadium), where the first modern Olympics took place in 1896. Down from Syntagma Square and near the Hill of the Acropolis is the old neighbourhoods of Athens, Plaka, Psiri, Thissio are offered for exploration, walking and good food. Along University Street, one of the most central streets of Athens, you will meet the triad of neoclassic buildings: the library, the College and the University. Athens is full of museums, such as the New Museum of the Acropolis, where you will admire the exhibits from the Parthenon and others from the 5th century BC.
